Middletown, Connecticut (CNN) -- Five people were killed and at least 12 were injured in an explosion Sunday at an under-construction power plant in central Connecticut, local officials said.

A statement from the mayor's office in Middletown, Connecticut, was the first official confirmation of the number of deaths in the explosion.

Residents up to 20 miles away reported hearing the blast about 11:30 a.m. at the Kleen Power Plant in Middletown, a suburb of Hartford, Connecticut.

The plant was under construction and had not yet opened, Middletown Officer Kevin White told CNN.
Fox news direct quote "bodies everywhere". I am told the news were also reporting "seeing bodies everywhere and that the blast blew people up to 40 feet away"

Police stated that 3 to 5 people had died in the blast. The blast was felt 10 miles away. The police have since retracted their statements, and some news vendors are reporting 0 deaths.

These guys were working on super bowl Sunday, is that normal? I'm hearing reports from Middletown they were testing the grid, perhaps that was the cause of the explosion.

It's worth noting there is a no fly zone above this place??? what's that all about Weird news.
