    New Zealand filters internet

    The Department of Internal Affairs' (DIA) internet filter is now operational and is being used by ISPs Maxnet and Watchdog.

    Thomas Beagle, spokesperson for online freedom lobby Tech Liberty says he's "very disappointed that the filter is now running, it’s a sad day for the New Zealand internet”.

    This sucks. If they want to filter child porn and that sort of thing fine but let an independent board review what is on the list, the list should not be secret. If they think a filter is going to stop anything they are clueless, these sickos will simply have 100's of tools and methods of swapping files that would all bypass the filter. I'm using Slingshot which claims they will not put on filtering but I guess eventually they will be forced..
