    Outlander: That has been going on for a while, quite a few of the air polution laws predate the MMGW debate. What actually set it off was the identification of the natural cooling and warming cycles of the earth creating worries about a global cooling (aka another ice age). The models seemed to support this until they factored in changing CO2 levels. Suddenly the system started drifting the other way. The rest is just PR and vested interests.
    The above statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?

    looking at their budget over the last decade is very telling of those 'vested interests' IMO.!

    I would like to see pollution reduced. I could care less if it has anything to do with global warming. I don't like breathing it, I don't like looking at it. That's reason enough.

    It seemed to me that any civilisation that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilisation in which I could live and stay sane.

    It is no surprise Gore still peddles this nonsense, he, and his big business colleagues, have a lot to lose.

    In 1993 The Club of Rome published a paper called The First Global Revolution. Part of that publication states: "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.... All these dangers are caused by human intervention... The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

    Notable members of The Club of Rome include (copied from another site):

    Al Gore – former VP of the USA, leading climate change campaigner, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Academy Award winner, Emmy winner. Gore lead the US delegations to the Rio Earth Summit and Kyoto Climate Change conference. He chaired a meeting of the full Club of Rome held in Washington DC in 1997.

    Ervin Laszlo – founding member of the CoR, founder and President of the Club of Budapest, founder and Chairman of the World Wisdom Council.

    Anne Ehrlich – Population Biologist. Married to Paul Ehrlich with whom she has authored many books on human overpopulation. Also a former director of Friends of the Earth and the Sierra Club, and a member of the UN's Global Roll of Honor.

    Hassan bin Talal – President of the CoR, President of the Arab Thought Forum, founder of the World Future Council, recently named as the United Nations 'Champion of the Earth'.

    Sir Crispin Tickell – former British Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Permanent Representative on the Security Council, Chairman of the ‘Gaia Society’, Chairman of the Board of the Climate Institute, leading British climate change campaigner.

    Another interesting article, which shows how the IPCC has deliberately exaggerated its projections by between 500% to 2000%.

    Global Warming Science and Public Policy - Proved: There is No Climate Crisis

    ]The IPCC’s 2007 climate summary overstated CO2’s impact on temperature by 500-2000%;
    CO2 enrichment will add little more than 1 °F (0.6 °C) to global mean surface temperature by 2100;
    Not one of the three key variables whose product is climate sensitivity can be measured directly;
    The IPCC’s values for these key variables are taken from only four published papers, not 2,500;
    The IPCC’s values for each of the three variables, and hence for climate sensitivity, are overstated;
    “Global warming” halted ten years ago, and surface temperature has been falling for seven years;
    Not one of the computer models relied upon by the IPCC predicted so long and rapid a cooling;
    The IPCC inserted a table into the scientists’ draft, overstating the effect of ice-melt by 1000%;
    It was proved 50 years ago that predicting climate more than two weeks ahead is impossible;
    Mars, Jupiter, Neptune’s largest moon, and Pluto warmed at the same time as Earth warmed;
    In the past 70 years the Sun was more active than at almost any other time in the past 11,400 years.
    It seemed to me that any civilisation that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilisation in which I could live and stay sane.

    Surely not governor X! I think you should replace arnie.. isn't he always the one purporting it to be a 'great problem'. It's all coming out in January 2010 it seems. This probably merits an article, but I'm not really big on climate change or a great criticizer of bad science.

    It's all art!! The art of scandal and deception, that is ;)

    Good find man, clarity point!

    Well! Good golly gosh! Yet another IPCC falsehood appears!

    World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown - Times Online

    " A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.

    In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report.

    It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi."

    …and a rather large 'Oops, we got it wrong' from the Met Office:

    'The Met Office has now admitted to BBC News that its annual global mean forecast predicted temperatures higher than actual temperatures for nine years out of the last 10.'

    Try this one then. The climate change scam goes right to the heart of the IPCC:

    Questions over business deals of UN climate change guru Dr Rajendra Pachauri - Telegraph

    "No one in the world exercised more influence on the events leading up to the Copenhagen conference on global warming than Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and mastermind of its latest report in 2007.
    Although Dr Pachauri is often presented as a scientist (he was even once described by the BBC as “the world’s top climate scientist”), as a former railway engineer with a PhD in economics he has no qualifications in climate science at all.
    What has also almost entirely escaped attention, however, is how Dr Pachauri has established an astonishing worldwide portfolio of business interests with bodies which have been investing billions of dollars in organisations dependent on the IPCC’s policy recommendations."
