US refuses to endorse British sovereignty in Falklands oil dispute

Washington refused to endorse British claims to sovereignty over the Falklands yesterday as the diplomatic row over oil drilling in the South Atlantic intensified in London and Buenos Aires and at the UN.

Despite Britain’s close military alliance with the US, the Obama Administration is determined not to be drawn into the issue. It has also declined to back Britain’s claim that oil exploration near the islands is sanctioned by international law
, saying that the dispute is strictly a bilateral issue.

There's that 'special' relationship in action again. Our government slavishly supports the US no matter what, sending our young people to die on their behalf, and in return the US screws us over at every turn. It is high time the UK told the US to go f**k itself over issues like wars in the middle east, Israel, radar and communications monitoring stations in the UK, UK based air fields, nukes etc.
