    Forum Layout

May just be me but the forum layout and naming is more than a little difficult to navigate.
It currently looks, to me, someone made sections based on whatever happened to go through their head next.
Might be worth a review before things get busy.
If you do and want any ideas, just ask.

    Hi chap,
I'm just about to goto bed, I did the sections they were based on not what i was going through my head, as much as a free thinker i am, I tried to cover most of the topics being covered on other fringe sites, sometimes i used specific tags, other times I didn't.

As for modifications to the forums we sure are listening, I don't think me and Sean are totally happy with them either. Don't know if you noticed yesterday , we made some changes yesterday, the day before too - so by no means are they fixed. Let us know the problems with the naming and layout are, if you can be specific.. Sean did a lot of the layout and I the naming.

Anyway, the topics are still subject to some changes still, let me know if you think there's any missing similarly .. In many ways this is why we wanted to run a beta period for this sort of feedback!

    Ta,

Personally I'd generalise the categories a little and cut down the number. Also some areas have holes in topic coverage. The science one jumps out at me most, but that's just me.

Personally I'd have that part as

    Science
    Physics
    Biology
    Chemistry
    Astronomy
    Political
    Fringe
    Meanderings (I think 7redorbs would be posting here a lot ;) )

That would cover the full spectrum while being obvious what goes where. Good example, currently, where would you post something on H5N1? None of the topics come close, while you have a whole sub-forum on QED, a fairly mundane and established theorem.

Some of the other topics seem to have the same problem, but I'm not the best person to advise on them. (Always useful to know what you don't know)

Anyhow, just my thoughts, I know it would look a little more mundane, but it's a lot less likely to scare new people away.
