The notion of a box within a box is no new decoration to the imagination of the literary genius of artistic prodigy. I think that the scientific understanding has brought forward human consciousness in so many different ways. From the discovery of the cell to the discovery of the magnetic resonance imaging system through the discovery of relativity, galaxies, and solar bodies it has very much played a part in the imaginations of us all.
I think we must ask ourselves , what are the alternatives to science? And, I think that to do that we have to understand what science is actually doing and one could say this is generously confining conscious imagination to devise theory into the practicable and observable hypothesis of gaining a repeatable and demonstrable event in the natural environment to test such theory.
One might say, that such parameters create a lab, or 'box' of information that allows the scientific method to gain more accurate information. A good example of this is a particle accelerator or a Fusion Device, that is that there is a demonstrable correlation between the housing of elemental particulates in science and utilitarian application within physical scientific confines.
For instance, take the Alchemical method, many could agree the scientific method and its recently evidenced proofs of biological and physical encapsulation systems such as cells, planets, galaxies, solar systems bear a resemblance to the symbolic alchemical method and belief that had been taught and birthed science many centuries before. This belief was that all things were related, and much like that science shows groups of containers within containers in ordered patterns, alchemy shows the same schema; as above is below. A rather occult phrase used to infer the duality of relativity between any object(s). One cannot deny the symbolic similarities, but dismiss them , and i think to do so without proper examination and study could be hasty.
It is my belief many of the deeply Alchemical and Occult understandings came from the sky, and from the observation via experience, alike to any scientist. The only difference was a heavy reliance on the human instrument which is heavily rejected as partial and inconsequential , which I feel could be a grave mistake, as after all, these supposed basic people seem to symbolically infer a significantly higher intellectually accurate method of prediction of later proven realities. A particularly good example being the Sumerian tablet discovered finding evidence of the knowledge of Pluto, many thousands of years before it was discovered. Carbon dating and independent analysis found the tablets to be genuine, vast in number and complexity, and significant; it remains unexplained how the Sumerians could know this other than the claims written on their tablets that 'This is not our knowledge, the AnnuNa ki told us, annuna meaning 'the fifty gods' and ki meaning earth. Which would seem to imply the translation 'The Fifty Gods of Earth' taught us, given the source of which the early scientific method was borne much from the works of early alchemists, and the work borne from early alchemists was much derived from eastern kaballistic works, one cannot help but be fascinated by the possibility that the source of western traditions are founded on ancient eastern values, possibly indirectly originating from Sumeria, now known as Iraq.
One cannot help wonder if indeed that evidential proofs based on theory and demonstration deserve a greater attention than the explicable quirks of the subtle yet astounding understandings and claims of seemingly advanced scientific concepts anciently known before.
I feel somewhat cheated in the consideration of such things as I believe strongly that this was not pruely extra-ordinary co-incidence , and i must be forced to conclude it is more likely for such amazing wisdoms many years beyond our culture to be originated from either Gods or aliens from outer space or a source of knowledge and true professionalism based on something other than merit, accreditation , or intellect. I am forced also to conclude, that such a thing does not have to exist outside the walls of science either. The question really is how big do you want your box to be? I think the alchemists box is a bit big for sciences comfort, but as a scientist and alchemist would agree, the universe does not need our comfort. or does it?
